Christmas Morning

It's early Christmas morning. Patrick and I are watching White Christmas while Noah is still sleeping or at least pretending to sleep. Santa has already visited, but the stockings are all covered up with a blanket. Lydia, Chris, and Jenna won't be here till about 8am. I made a coffee cake last night, so we've been able to eat some breakfast. (Clearly, we're off the keto diet for a while.)

Last night, we went to the Christmas Eve service at the Presbyterian Church. It was completely different from the big, fancy services that we used to be part of when we were in Evangelical churches. There were a lot more people there than on a Sunday morning. The order of service was, of course, liturgical. Hymns alternated with scripture reading. The Gospel was proclaimed. It was lovely.

Another hour of quiet before the craziness of presents and presence. I'll enjoy this time, but I'm looking forward to the hustle and business of the six of us opening gifts, playing together, and spending the day enjoying each other while remembering Jesus.

How are you spending your day?

Catherine
